Here is the first of many Oakley Informant Reviews, where we review Oakley Products and test them out.
So we headed up to Falls over the weekend to test out the Oakley Airbrake Snow Googles. They are pretty sweet from just looking at product shots online and I was stoked when they arrived in the mail to finally see them in the flesh.
They came in a great solid travel case that would be able to withhold some battered. I loved the option of being able to change lens in a split second too, this was a sweet feature and definitely leading the way.
Once on the mountain; I’d never received so many compliments (whether that was because of my good looks or not I’m not sure, but I think it was the Googles.) First off people recognised the type of goggles that they were and most had an opinion about the Switch-lock Technology. One of the lifties I spoke to about them was toying up the Airbrakes or a pair of Dragons new range. I recommended the Airbrakes to him based on the feel, style and simplicity about being able to change the lens. My previous 3 pairs have been Oakley Googles, the most recent of them being the Shaun Whites but the Airbrakes took the cake way ahead of any goggles I had ever tried.
The solid frame and the overall style and chunkiness of the Airbrakes just made me feel better whilst riding plus the sense of having a wider viewpoint when looking through the frames. The only downfall I could pick with them with them was I felt the padding and fit-to-face was too small in relation to the size of the frames. It felt as though they where sitting super close to my eyes and didn’t allow for much room.
Overall the Oakley Airbrakes are a great product, I’d probably give it a 4.5 out of 5 only losing points for the padding around the face. Stay tuned for the next review…
